I was in the US for my birthday. My wonderful friends in the Bay organized a meal and entertainment. We had mexican at El Torrito in Sunnyvale and then played Rockband at 'The Fortress of Solitude'. I love these folks. (Kit is my usual Canon 40D set up with the 50mm EF 1.8 II lens for inside/portrait work)

Whitby Gothic Weekend is my favourite bi-annual long weekend. I go every April and October. Some times it may be just for some of Saturday and Sunday and sometimes it is for longer. Hanging out with friends in our favourite haunts dressed in our gothic finery is just lovely.

Askrigg in the Yorkshire Dales. The name has Viking roots. This was one of those gorgeous cold but crisp winter days I like. Taken on a Canon Powershot 170 with a lens extender and a CPR.

Three days spent in the North Yorks Moors. I used it to try out my new kit, a Canon 40D fitted with a 17-85 4.0-5.6F IS USM EF-S lens.

I spent a few days on the Shropshire Union and Trent and Mersey canals. It was cold! Equipment was the ubiquitous Canon 40D fitted with a 17-85 4.0-5.6F IS USM EF-S lens.

The whole household spent a week in an apartment in Tenerife. It was very pleasant. Camera is Canon 40D fitted with either the 50mm EF 1.8F II lens, the (poor) 17-55 EF-S 400D kit lens, or an elderly 70-210 4.0 one touch. The 17-85 4.0-5.6F IS USM EF-S lens' zoom has stuck :-(
